SUMMARY:Reality Check
DESCRIPTION:Reality Check is an interactive simulation where students learn first hand the importance of sound financial decisions and develop their understanding of the day-to-day choices that will impact their future. \nFor a brief time students at your school will get a taste of what life is like on the other side of high school. The event is Reality Check and gives students foresight into what life may be like as an adult. \nWith Reality Check each student chooses a career and receives a checkbook that reflects their entry level salary. Moreover\, these students are randomly assigned a marital status and possibly b assigned up to one or two children. Students are then released into the simulation area where a mock community awaits. The community includes approximately 20 separate tables attended by local business men and women who are eager to teach lessons on just how far a dollar can go. \nThe event\, sponsored by Love INC Sioux County\, involves a partnership where the school district and local businesses come together for a day. Community participants include bankers\, realtors\, physicians\, dentists\, tag agents\, hair stylists\, day care providers\, car dealers\, police\, and many other volunteers.
