The Heart and Soles Gap Ministry is always a highlight, but this year we all felt a level of urgency. In June, the communities of Rock Valley and Hawarden were devastated by a flood. Countless families lost their homes and belongings. Many families had basements filled with flood waters and lost most of their children’s belongings.

Thanks to generous donations of shoes from local churches and individuals the Love INC Shoe Stores offered a pair brand new tennis shoes to kids, ranging in sizes from toddler to Youth 7. The Rock Valley shoe store was held at the Love INC Sioux County office, and we are so grateful to the churches in Hawarden, Hull, Sioux Center, and Orange City for opening their doors and hosting the Shoe Stores. 367 kids (from 156 families) received a pair of shoes and a pack of  socks to help get them ready for the start of school.

A gap ministry is not just an opportunity to help by giving tangible things to people, but more importantly to develop relationships, get to know people and share the love of Christ with them.
